Self Catering Accommodation
Walkers Cart Lodge is a thatched 17th century listed cart lodge that has been beautifully transformed into two 2-bedroomed self contained cottages, Barn Owl and Mallard. With original features and atmospheric stable yard setting, they provide a comfortable bolthole for a couple or small family looking to explore, as well as convenient short-term accommodation, during house renovations or if you are in between houses.
The cottages are located in Farnham, a small village, with views onto unspoilt countryside on the Herts/Essex border. The market town of Bishop’s Stortford is two miles away with its train link to London (Liverpool Street 35 minutes, West End 45 minutes), Stansted Airport (9 mins) and Cambridge. The M11 and A10 are easily accessible and Stansted Airport is 8 miles away.
Walkers Farm, dating back to the 15th century, is now no longer a working farm but it has retained its original barns and outbuildings. Walkers Cart Lodge was a dilapidated thatched cart shed with five bays and an open front, believed to be late 17th century. It was converted during 2010 into self catering holiday accommodation, retaining as much of its original structure as possible.
